Consent documents and how signing works
What the legal documents on Monkey Mind are, how signing works, and how guardian consent is handled for users under 18.
Consent documents on Monkey Mind
Monkey Mind requires every user to sign a small set of legal documents before they can use the platform. This article explains what those documents are, how signing works, and how guardian consent is handled for users under 18.
Which documents you'll be asked to sign
The specific list depends on your account type (client, provider, organization admin). Typical documents include:
- Terms of Service — the agreement governing your use of the platform.
- Privacy Policy — how we collect, use, and protect your personal data.
- HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices — your rights regarding protected health information.
- Informed Consent to Treatment (clients & providers) — the nature, benefits, risks, and confidentiality of services.
- Telehealth Consent (clients & providers) — specific consent for video-based sessions.
How signing works
You'll be shown each document one at a time on a dedicated signing page. Scroll through the full document — the I agree button stays disabled until you reach the bottom, to ensure you've had a chance to review it. Clicking the button records your signature with a timestamp, your IP address, and your browser information. Once you've signed every applicable document, you're returned to the page you were originally trying to visit.
When you may be asked to re-sign
If we publish a material update to a document, you'll be prompted to review and sign the new version on your next login. Minor edits (typos, formatting) don't trigger a re-sign. You can see the current version of each document and when you last signed it in Settings → Consents.
Users under 18 — guardian consent
When a minor signs up, they provide a parent or guardian's name and email. The platform sends the guardian a secure link (valid for 14 days) where they can review and sign the applicable documents on the minor's behalf. The minor's account is held in a locked state until the guardian has signed. Both the minor and the guardian can request a fresh link from the pending screen or Settings → Consents at any time.
Downloading or reviewing your signed consents
Go to Settings → Consents to see:
- Every document that applies to your account
- The version you last signed and when
- Whether the signature was made by you or by a guardian
- Your pending guardian consent status (if applicable)
